Fares Krichati

I’m a civil engineering student at San Diego State University, working in the lab and out in the field at Moment Engineering. I’m also developing UniPlan, a daily planner app for students.

About me

I’m a third-year Civil Engineering student at San Diego State University, expecting to graduate in 2028. I’m currently interning at Moment Engineering, where I work in the lab and out in the field.

I have a strong passion for civil engineering and have always been interested in city development. Since I was young, I’ve used BIM and planning software to simulate cities and explore my own development ideas. That interest has grown into projects like designing the floor plan and office space for Moment Engineering.

In my free time, I like watching football, hanging out with friends, spending time with family, and playing rugby. I play rugby at SDSU because I love the sport, and because it helps me stay active and make connections in college. Rugby and sports in general have been a big part of my life and have shaped the person I am today.

I also have a tech side. I’m using AI to develop UniPlan, a daily planner for students that I hope to officially launch one day. Below, you can explore my projects, work experience, and the other activities I’m involved in.

SEP 2025 — PRESENT

Geotechnical Engineering Intern · Lab & Field

I work with soil both in the lab and on-site: collecting field samples, identifying and classifying soils, and working with geotechnical lab equipment.

In the laboratory

Hands-on experience with direct shear and consolidation equipment, moisture content and plasticity testing, and soil sample testing.

Out in the field

Collecting soil samples, classifying soils, and building practical experience with compaction testing.

Working with data

Using Excel and applying an understanding of the ASTM soil chart to support lab and field work.

My projects

MOMENT ENGINEERING · OFFICE DESIGN

Office floor plan & design

I created the floor plan and designed our office space at Moment Engineering. Using Planner 5D, I modeled the layout and arranged the workspaces, furniture, and storage to visualize how the space fits together.

UniPlan

I’m using AI to develop UniPlan, a daily planner app for students. It combines my interest in technology with a practical way to organize student life. The app is a work in progress, and I hope to officially launch it one day.

Planner 5D home designs

I’ve designed many different types of homes in Planner 5D, exploring floor plans, interior layouts, and outdoor spaces. These are some of my personal residential design projects.

Cities: Skylines

I use Cities: Skylines to explore my interest in city development and simulate my own development ideas. It’s a personal project that connects my longtime interest in planning cities with my studies in civil engineering.

Project photos coming soon.
